ESTIMATION OF QUANTITIES OF THE MATERIALS REQUIRED FOR PLASTERING A WALL

Let’s assume that,

LENGTH OF WALL: 10 meters

WIDTH OF WALL: 10 meters

THICKNESS OF PLASTER: 15 mm = 0.015 m

TAKE:

• Density of cement = 1440 kg/m3
• Density of sand = 1650 kg/m3(sand density may vary from 1550 to 1650 kg/m3)
• Area of wall = 10 m x 10 m = 100 m2
• Total Wet Plaster Volume= Area of Wall × Thickness of Plaster = 100 m2x 0.015 m = 1.5 m2
• Dry Volume of Plaster = Wet Volume of Plaster + approximately 33% of Wet Volume of Plaster = 1+ 0.33=1.33
• TAKE DRY VOLUME FACTOR= 1.33

CALCULATION FOR MATERIALS REQUIRED FOR PLASTERING IN MIX RATIO OF 1:3

HERE, MIX RATIO: 1:3

SUM= 1+3=4

CALCULATION FOR CEMENT

(1 X 1.33 X 1440 X 1.5)/ 4 X 50 = 14.364 BAGS

CALCULATION FOR SAND

(3 X 1.33 X 1.5 X 1650)/4= 2468.812 KG

SIMILARLY, MATERIALS REQUIRED IN PLASTERING FOR OTHER RATIOS PER 100 SQUARE METERS ASSUMING THICKNESS OF PLASTER AS 15 mm
